1. A hybrid created by crossing two different species within the same genus; many bermudagrasses popular for sports turf use interspecific hybrids of Cynodon dactylon and Cynodon transvaalensis.
2. A hybrid created by crossing two plants within the same species; many seeded bermudagrass cultivars are hybrids of C. dactylon varieties.
