Crispin de Passe, who lived in what is now the Netherlands, was one of the finest engravers of flowers.

The books listed below present a series of illustrations of garden flowers. It was not a garden manuel. Its 233 plates of tulips are excellent.

The book was entitled, A Garden of Flowers, Wherein very lively is contained a true and perfect description of all the Flovvers contained in these foure followinge bookes.

It was translated out of the "Netherlandish original" into English for the common benefits of those who understand no other languages . . . . . all at the Charges of the Author.
